Song: Morning Like This
Morning Like This
c. Ray Phoenix

Well, a morning like this, makes its own music and a
morning like this, sings its own song
And we thank you, Lord, for a morning like this
And for bringing us along

Well, a day like today, has so much sunlight on a
day like today, how could anything go wrong?
And we thank you, Lord, for a day like today
and for helping us along

Well, a world like this, has so much beauty, in a
world like this, we give Thee, Lord, our praise!
And we thank you, Lord, for a world like this,
and for giving us our days.

Well, a morning like this, makes its own music and a
morning like this, sings its own song
And we thank you, Lord, for a morning like this
And for bringing us along, and for helping us along, and for bringing us along.

This is reminding me strongly of Sandy Patti's "Was It a Morning Like This" song. Have you ever heard it?

No, but I looked it up using google, and I think it makes a nice pair with mine

I hadn't heard it, so I was afraid I might have thought I wrote something that I was just remembering (I've done things like that), but I looked it up and the tune and structure of her song are very different from mine. It's nice to think of my "Morning like this" as being like that morning, however. Pretty cool.

Remind me to sometime write out what I can remember of the lyrics I wrote once to a tune that I really thought was original with me. I called it "Winter Long", and sang it for over a year before someone pointed out that the tune was a country music standard that everyone knew. Sigh...

The first song I wrote out today ("Prodigal Son") actually uses the chorus from a Buffy St. Marie tune; "Piney Wood Hills" for its verse. I keep planning to change it, or to check with her to see if it's ok to use it for that purpose, but I haven't done anything about it yet. I think I'll have to if I want to record it (and I do). I'm not sure what I need to do; does anyone know for sure?

When you record these, I'd be interested in getting a copy :)
