Email is sent when you get a reply to one of your posts. NOT when one of your friends posts a new entry/makes edits to it.
Occasionally. Someone will make a post. Then copy the text and delete it before you can get to it. And if both are replies to your post then you will get both.
I think you CAN turn off email notifications of replies to your posts, etc. If you want.
